UCL is one of the best performing and most highly sought after universities in the world. Their pharmacy course has grown in popularity as have their degree programmes across the board.
With strong demand for the course already, UCL’s primary goal when approaching Springpod to collaborate on creating Subject Spotlights was to deliver higher quality leads. It was therefore important that the output from the partnership was to excite high intent students to go on to apply and, crucially, be made offers.
The 44% lead to offer rate achieved was significantly higher than UCL’s offer rate to applicants generally and demonstrated the effectiveness of the Subject Spotlight in creating high quality applicants.
Alongside UCL’s primary goal of creating higher quality applicants, they also wanted to:
- Change the perception of Pharmacy (there is a misconception that Pharmacy is a limited career path, for example the only outcome after study is to work in a - dispensary role),
- Showcase UCLs position of being a leading school of Pharmacy,
- Focus on UK recruitment,
- Look to reach under represented groups, particularly males.
With goals covering specific lead quality, more general brand awareness and under represented groups, the on-demand format of Subject Spotlights was perfect. Allowing students to move through the content at their own pace and at times that suit them, Subject Spotlights fuse education and entertainment as the new way of researching university options.

Springpod’s content experts collaborated with the team at UCL to bring several elements of the MPharm course to the forefront of student’s attention choosing to focus the Spotlight around core topics in each episode:

Associate Professor Nadia Bukhari has years of pharmacy experience and as the youngest female fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, who better to reach and connect with our audience?
Nadia did a fantastic job of bringing the Spotlight to life for students:
